In March, the news arrived that Simon Cowell was in talks with Netflix to start a new show. The show focuses on talented people auditioning to form a new boy band similar to One Direction. This week, Simon’s been calling for people to audition. So, presumably, he signed off with the streaming giant. New updates reveal he works with Box To Box, who have done documentaries for Netflix in the past.

The talent hunter has a history of success with shows like American Idol, The X Factor UK, and America’s Got Talent. He also did well with similar shows across the pond. Of course, he’s well known as the man who got One Direction going before he fell out with them. Harry Styles went solo, and there seems to be bad blood between them nowadays.

Ryan Seacrest knows a thing or two about following in the footsteps of a legend. After all, he not only cohosted Live With Kelly and Ryan in a seat once occupied by Regis Philbin, but he also stepped into beloved TV personality Dick Clark’s shoes to emcee Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest. So you might think he’d take the idea of standing beside Vanna White as Pat Sajak’s replacement on Wheel of Fortune in stride. But no. “I’m like a kid, so excited about just seeing the set, you know,” he told the Today show about his new gig coming this fall. And he admitted to E! News, “Of course I’m nervous. I haven’t done it yet, so I’m terrified!” ABC/Disney Even so, Seacrest is no stranger to game shows. He’s hosted the singing competition...

Howie Mandel turned the fans against him on the most recent episode of America’s Got Talent. This happened when he gave his thoughts on a singing group in the competition, and the audience and fellow judges didn’t appreciate what he had to say. Fanbs online even said he was becoming the “new Simon Cowell.”
Here is a look at the performance and what Howie said that angered the fans.

It’s the end of an era on Wheel of Fortune, but it’s also about to be the start of a new one. Friday’s (June 7) episode of the series marks the send-off for iconic game show host Pat Sajak, who is leaving his spot on the stage after four decades, and next season, Ryan Seacrest will take over the enviable role. Seacrest has a great deal of experience emceeing reality shows after getting his start in kids shows like Gladiators 2000 and, of course, hosting American Idol since its inception. So when does his tenure at the top of Wheel of Fortune begin? Wheel of Fortune is expected to return for Season 42, which will be Seacrest’s first as the host, in September 2024. An official premiere date has not yet been announced, but Season 41 premiered on September 11, 2023, so it’ll probably be a similar timeline. Seacrest and Vanna White,...

With Pat Sajak’s final appearance as host of “Wheel of Fortune,” the makeup of a daily hour of television that structures the days of millions of Americans is shifting once more.
“Wheel of Fortune” is the low-pressure option of the two famous game shows invented by the late superproducer Merv Griffin. Unlike “Jeopardy,” it’s intended to be not aspirational but accessible, with simple word-puzzle games and a department-store glamour that comforts but doesn’t dazzle. And Sajak, along with Vanna White revealing the letters, has been at its center since relatively close to the beginning; he took over from Chuck Woolery in 1981, six years into the show’s run, and has since been honored by the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest continuous stint hosting a single game show.

“The Young and the Restless” will get back in the winner’s circle at the 51st Annual Daytime Emmy Awards scheduled for Friday night, June 7. That’s according to the combined predictions of Gold Derby users who have placed their bets here in our predictions center. Do you agree the top-rated CBS serial will be named the year’s best soap?
“Y&r” will have to overcome “General Hospital,” which has been on a hot streak, winning for the last three years in a row. In total, “Gh” has won Best Drama Series 16 times, more than any other soap in history. “Y&r” is next in line with 11, including back-to-back wins in 2019 and 2020. No other daytime drama has achieved double-digit victories. In fact, none even come close. The next most awarded serials are the now-defunct “As the World Turns” and the still-running “Days of Our Lives” with four apiece.

With 25 seasons under its belt, The Voice has seen its fair share of coaching rotations, especially because multiple seasons of the singing competition show air per year. It took American Idol twice the amount of time to reach 20 seasons, but so far, those two singing competition shows haven’t overlapped in terms of judges and coaches. The original four figures to shape the show’s trajectory were country singer Blake Shelton, Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine, “Fighter” singer Christina Aguilera and “Forget You” singer CeeLo Green.
Other celebrities with music backgrounds have cycled through the four red spinning chairs since the show began in 2011. The singers who have judged have also covered a wide range of genres from pop to country to rap and more.
Season 26’s panel has been established as Reba McEntire, who has been with the show since Season 24, veteran coach Gwen Stefani and newcomers Snoop Dogg and Michael Bublé.

Over a month after her untimely death, the cause of Mandisa‘s death has been revealed to be complications of class III obesity. The American Idol and Grammy-winning singer was 47. According to the autopsy obtained by People, the star was found dead in her Tennessee home on April 18. Mandisa “was last known alive approximately three weeks” earlier, the report said, and she was found by friends. The cause of death is listed as natural and confirms her father John Hundley’s belief that his daughter did not harm herself, as expressed to Fox Digital News in May. He told the outlet that detectives “looked for signs that she may have harmed herself, and there were no signs to indicate that she did anything” of that nature. Days after Mandisa’s death was first reported on April 19 by K-Love, a Christian radio network, Tennessee police confirmed that there were no signs of foul play.

There is a thought process that the people who lose on American Idol often have better careers than the champions. While the long-term success remains to be seen, runner-up WIll Moseley is actually more successful right now than champion Abi Carter.
Here is what you need to know about the two competitors as they start their musical careers.
Will Moseley Is Out-Selling American Idol Champion Abi Carter
Abi Carter won American Idol this season, beating out runner-up Will Moseley. She won largely thanks to her incredible renditions of songs like Billie Eilish’s “What Was I Made For?” However, now that she is the Idol champion, she seems to have fallen behind the person she beat, country singer Will Moseley.
Abi Carter from American Idol | YouTube
Carter’s first single to hit the Billboard charts is her original song, “This Isn’t Over.” The single was pretty successful, reaching No.

Carrie Underwood is one of the most recognizable stars on the planet. However, based on the most recent updates making the rounds, many fans say the star doesn’t look the same. So, what happened?
Carrie Underwood Is One Of The Biggest Stars On The Planet
Carrie Underwood may have gotten her start on American Idol, but, since winning her season nearly two decades ago, she has carved out her place as one of the most popular and most respected names in country music. She has churned out hit after hit, and her fanbase continues to grow with each passing year.
After all the years she put in to get to where she is, and build the kind of following she has, it would be easy to kick her feet up and decide to take it easy. Luckily for Carrie Underwood fans, she hasn’t decided to do that, as...

Like father, like daughter? Maggie Sajak made her TV debut in 1996 shortly after her first birthday when she toddled onstage during a Wheel of Fortune episode. She held her father Pat’s hand and babbled into his microphone — a natural on camera! Now 29, she serves as the series’ social correspondent (a post she’s held since 2021), bringing viewers behind the scenes and interviewing contestants on both the syndicated Wheel and ABC’s Celebrity Wheel of Fortune for after-show segments on social media. Maggie has also taken the Wheel stage, subbing for Vanna White in 2023 when White took over Pat’s job for a week. And when her father announced his departure after 43 years, speculation circled about the younger Sajak taking the game show’s helm. She won’t…yet. The new host will be American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest. But Maggie still has Fortune in her DNA. Here are some...

Since its inception in 2002, American Idol has catalyzed some of the most extraordinary success stories in the music industry. From pop sensations to country crooners, the American Idol stage has witnessed the meteoric rise of some of today’s brightest stars.
But with fame comes both fortune and fizzle. Only some Idol contestants could sustain their initial spark and transform it into an enduring blaze of success.

With “Dancing with the Stars” set to come back for a 33rd season this fall, there’s a long list of celebrities who deserve to compete. Three of my past suggestions actually did end up cast on the show: Frankie Muniz (who placed third in season 25), Kel Mitchell (who placed second on season 28), and Jamie Lynn Spears (who was the second to be eliminated last season). Below is a list of male celebs I think the show should consider to vie for the next Mirror Ball Trophy. Do you agree with my picks? Check them out below, then vote in our poll at the bottom of this post to let us know which you’d most like to see on “DWTS.” And let us know in the comments what other stars you would like to see when the show comes back in September.

Katy Perry recently left American Idol for a hiatus to enjoy being creative and touring. Well, her first performance after that involved a gig that reportedly netted her millions of dollars. Unfortunately, only a select group of people got to see her sing. Read on to find out more.
Katy Perry Moves Onward, Makes More Money
It seems incredible that when she still went by the name of Katy Hudson, the now-famous singer was dropped by her record label. Actually, lots of people had that happen to them, but few of them became so famous. Six years later, she signed with Capitol Records and her bank balance just keeps on growing. Per Forbes, the talented star is now worth $340 million.

Many fans feel that they can say and do whatever they want when it comes to reality TV stars. However, when it comes to the Survivor producers, they have a message for their fans. While fans feel they have the First Amendment right to say anything hateful they want, this reality show prefers its fans to “practice kindness.”
Here is what the reality show had to say to its fans about not being cruel.
Survivor Calls Out Fans For Hateful Comments
Too many fans today love to mock and send hateful comments to people who compete on reality TV shows. It seems that being anonymous and being a keyboard means people know they can be as cruel and hateful as they want without facing repercussions for their poor attitudes. Survivor has had enough of it.

This is not about fans choosing favorites and wanting others to lose.

Netflix made some noise in the unscripted world when it hired Jeff Gaspin, the former NBCUniversal chief, as its new defacto reality boss earlier this year.
The hire ostensibly signaled that the streamer wanted to step up its unscripted efforts and take on the broadcast networks when it comes to buying big entertainment formats.
During his time as NBC’s head of alternative entertainment, he developed series including The Apprentice, The Biggest Loser and Deal or No Deal and after his promotion, his last act as Chairman of NBC Universal Television was buying The Voice, which other than The Masked Singer, was arguably the last major entertainment format to breakthrough on the broadcast nets.
Netflix is now doubling down on efforts to find its version of The Voice.
“The difference from the past is we want to focus on bigger formats, more of what you would call broadcast-style shows versus the cable style shows.

Netflix is bolstering its entertainment formats unit with a big new music competition series.
The streamer has ordered Building The Band (w/t) as it shifts its focus away from cable-esque fare to competing with the major broadcast networks for the next The Voice or American Idol.
Check back tomorrow for an interview with new Netflix reality boss Jeff Gaspin on the company’s new strategy.
Building the Band seeks to discover the next great music group without bandmates initially meeting face-to-face. The series brings together 50 of the most talented singers to compete for a chance to form their own band without ever seeing each other. All they have to go on is musical compatibility, connection, chemistry and merit. What will happen when the bands finally meet and… looks, choreography, and style come into play?
The series comes from The Wall producer Remarkable Entertainment, which is part of Banijay UK.

With Katy Perry leaving American Idol as one of the judges, fans are making guesses at who will replace her. Many fans have already made a wish list with names like Jon Bon Jovi on them. However, there is a new guess and it is based on something a megastar has said this year.
Here is who some think might be joining American Idol next season.

A Reddit post was started with an embed from a social media post. In that post, someone claimed that Adele was considering joining American Idol as Katy Perry’s replacement. The reasoning given is that she wants to have a second baby and wants something more laid back (that still pays well) than her Vegas residency.

Following his split from Aubrey Paige Petcosky, Ryan Seacrest is back on the dating scene, but this time around, he’s taking extra precautions.
The American Idol host isn’t taking any chances with his potential lady loves, and at this stage in the game, he’s taking inventory to ensure that his future girlfriends check all the boxes.
An insider recently spoke with Closer Weekly and revealed Ryan’s list of requirements for any woman interested in dating the future Wheel of Fortune host.
“She must be young, pretty, and ambitious to a point,” the source shared.
Ryan, 49, is also conducting background checks on prospective partners as a form of protection. If any red flags arise, they’re immediately out of the running.
“Ryan’s insisting on background checks,” the insider spilled. “He’s not proud about it, but he feels they’re necessary to protect himself.”

Veteran unscripted producer Wendy Miller was attending a gathering for women over 40 in unscripted television who are unemployed when she had the idea. Though the get-together could easily have turned maudlin, one woman brought levity to the proceedings by telling a story about working on a past show that cracked up the whole room. Miller envisioned a storytelling event, akin to The Moth, where reality TV workers could share outrageous career tales to a paying audience, thus raising money for needy peers: “All of us are unemployed and have no money, but there are people who are way worse. What if we use this as an opportunity to raise money for someone who’s really in dire straits?” Miller pitched the group.
The ensuing “Hollywood Horror Happy Hour” (tagline: “We’re All Broke. Let’s Laugh About It!”), which took place May 21, was just one sign of the times in the nonfiction TV business.
